How to use the improved sign in security

Legacy Logix has upgraded user sign in: moving away from passwords to secure Magic Links and Passkeys.

Updated over a year ago

We've all used a weak password, or took the easy route of repeating the same password in multiple accounts. But strong passwords are hard to remember, and memorable passwords too often pose security risks. Passwords have become a weak link.

So, like other security-forward companies, Legacy Logix has moved away from password-driven access. In August 2024, we upgraded our security system to use more modern and secure methods to sign in to Legacy Logix accounts: Magic Links and Passkeys. These are explained below, including your transition from passwords to these more secure technologies.

Previously, when signing into Legacy Logix you would see a screen like this:

Now you will see the following screen:

The first time you sign in, you will select 'SIGN IN WITH MAGIC LINK'. Magic Links generate a one-time link that is sent to your email, and valid for 10 minutes. Open the email, click on the link, and it will automatically sign you in and open Legacy Logix in your browser.

The next time you sign in, you'll see a masked version of your email at the top of the sign in screen. Pre-populating your email makes signing back into your account even faster. You can view or edit the email by clicking the Sign in as a different user link at the bottom of the screen.

You can use Magic Links any time you want to access your Legacy Logix account. Alternatively, once you have signed in the first time using a Magic Link, you can set up a Passkey to access your account with methods like facial recognition or fingerprint scanning.

Passkeys are cryptographic keys securely stored on your hardware device (like your computer or phone). What makes these so secure is that they are 1) tied to a specific piece of hardware (and never shared with Legacy Logix), and 2) are secured using modern technologies such as biometrics (finger print, facial recognition) when available on the device.

When you sign in with a passkey, your computer, phone, or tablet will verify your identity with the security available (such as a finger print scan) to complete the process.

To create a Passkey, sign into Legacy Logix using a Magic link, then navigate to Account settings.

Navigate to Security and click the GET STARTED button. You'll be asked to name the Passkey. Then, your computer's operating system or browser will securely generate and connect the Passkey with Legacy Logix.

The next time you sign into Legacy Logix, select SIGN IN WITH PASSKEY. Your computer will automatically use the security features available (finger print, facial recognition) to access your Passkey. Of course the Magic Link option will always be available as well.
